1.‘National Conference on Contextualizing Shakespeare in India’

A UGC Sponsored National conference on ‘Contextualizing Shakespeare in India’ was organized by the Department of English on 27  February 2017 to commemorate the 400th birth anniversary year of Shakespeare. Dr. SudhirDhar was the Keynote Speaker. Dr. SharmishthaPanja, New Delhi and Dr. ShernewazBuhariwala were the subject experts for a panel discussion. The conference saw a large number of students actively participating in all the sessions. A Students poster competition was also organized during the conference.

2. National Sanskrit Conference

A Two days National Sanskrit Competition was organized on 6 and 7 October 2017, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Varnekar. Dr. AbhirajRajendra Mishra delivered the keynote address. Dr. Pankaj Chande, ex VC OfKavikulguruKalidas Sanskrit University, was the guest of Honor. On the occasion a compilation of research essays ‘ Shreedhareeyam’ and a felicitationvolume of Dr. Leena Rastogi ‘Rasaleena’ were released at the hands of dignitaries. Forty seven research papers were presented on literary work of Dr. Varnekar in the Conference. 

2018

 National Aqua Conference

The National Aqua Conference on “Water Conservation: Role of Educators’ held on 18 December 2018 was a thumping  success. Dr. MadhavraoChitale, Stockholm prize winner and former Secretary General of International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage presides over the inaugural. Dr. PramodYeole Pro. Vice Chancellor, R T M Nagpur University was the chief Guest. Mr. SatyajitBhatkal, CEO of Paani Foundation was the keynote speaker. About three hundred fifty teachers, students, NGOs, technocrats, researchers attended the conference the conference. Experts like Dr. PawanLabhshetwar, NEERI, Dr. Kapil Chandrayan Expert, Dr Sandeep Shirkhedkar, AOL and prof. Dr. DebasisSengupta, ISI, Kolkata delivered talks during the day. The conference proceedings were released at the handa of Adv. Sunul Manohar, President W E S Dr. Shekhar Mande, D G CSIR and Mr. Vijay Phanshikar, Editor, The Hitavada guided the gathering in the valedictory function. The winning team from Narkhed of Waer Cup held by Paani Foundation was felicitated at the hands of Vice Preident W E S Dr. AvinashDeshmukh. Secretary W E S Dr. Shyamala Nair Graced the valedictory function.

2019

1.One day National Level Conference on New Guidelines for Assessment and Accreditation was organized on 21st September 2019, for which the college received Academic support from NAAC. This convention focused on session-based themes and also addressed many key indicators making the renewed procedural norms of the Revised NAAC Guidelines explicitly clear.  Dr. S P Kane, Vice Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University delivered the inaugural address. Dr. DevenderKawadey NAAC, Bangalore delivered key note address. Dr. Urmila Dabir, Principal, RajkumarKevalramani College, Dr. RajlakshmiTripathi, Govt. M H College of Home Science, Jabalpur. Dr. Sukhtankar, Principal of GogateJogalekar College, Ratnagiri and Mrs. MadhaviSathe  From M P Shah Women’s College of Arts and Commerce were chaired the sessions.

2017-18

SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active – Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) Awareness Program seeks to bridge and avail the benefit of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). This programme was organized at Multi Facility Computer Centre (RUSA), Gram GeetaBhavan, RTM Nagpur University, Mahatma JyotibaPhule Campus, Amravati Road, Nagpur on 18th June 2018. Dr. Sangeeta Sahasrabuddhe is appointed as Swayam MOOCs Mentor from the College.                                                       

2018-19

A one day Workshop on “Awareness of SWAYAM AND MOOCS and benefits of online certification” was conducted on 20th April 2019 at Shankar Nagar Campus.  The expert Dr. Rekha Sharma (SWAYAM Coordinator) RTMNU, Nagpur, gave the detailed information about objective, Vision, Mission and the various Web and Video Courses available under SWAYAM.  More than 80 teachers and students of UG and PG participated.

2. One Day National Seminar on ‘AarogyamDhansampada: A Life long Treasure’ was held on 14th December 2019. Dr. DeepaliKotwal Principal acquainted the gathering with various activities organized under the aegis of Health Literacy Year 2019-20. Dr. KakoliUpadhyay, Organizing secretary of the seminar spoke about the seminar and its theme. Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Chancellor   Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences,Karadwas the chief Guest.Dr. AvinashDeshmukh Delivered Presidential Address. Dr. VihangVahia, Psychiatrist from Mumbai delivered the keynote address.

Dr. SudhirBhave, Dr. VivekKirpekar, Dr. Sheela Krishnaswamy, Bangaluru, Dr. Prabhakar Deshpande, Dr. AlpaDalal, Mr. ShrikantNivasarkar, Pune, Dr. SunitaLawange were among the eminent speakers.

Dr. Vibhavari Dani, Former Dean, IGMC, Nagpur. Was invited as the chief guest for Valedictory function. Dr. Shamla Nair, Director and Secretary, WES was delivered the presidential address at valedictory function.

2019

A one day Workshop on “Awareness of SWAYAM AND MOOCS and benefits of online certification” was conducted on 20th April 2019 at L.A.D. & R.P. College for Women Nagpur.  The expert Dr.Rekha Sharma (SWAYAM University Coordinator) RTMNU, Nagpur, gave the detailed information about objective, Vision, Mission and the various Web and Video Courses available under SWAYAM.  She also made them aware about how to navigate the SWAYAM website and e-PG pathshala, NPTEL online certification and benefits of course such as for MOOCS etc. More than 80 teachers and students of UG and PG participated.On the same day one more guest lecture on “Various Funding Agencies’ by PragatiGokhale, Advisor, Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission Government of Maharashtra, Nagpur was conducted.

International Yoga Day and Praanayamwas organized on 21st June 2019 by Department of Physical Education and Sports. Yoga exercises were conducted by alumnus Ms. VaishaliGabhane and Er. Sanjay S. Khonde conducted Praanayam workshop. 200 students and teachers actively participated in the same.

Maharashtra Anti-Tobacco Mass Pledge activity was conducted by NSS unit I on 11th July 2019 in the college.

Tree Plantation program was organized on 13th July 2019 by Staff and Student s of LAD College in GokulBalwadi Seminary Hills, Nagpur sponsors were Fandhal Technology and Godawari Polymer and Mr. Tanveer Mirza of NGO YashodharaBahuuddeshiyaSanstha.

A guest lecture on “Together against corruption” was jointly organised by Department of Geography and Sociology in collaboration with National Chemical and Fertilizers Govt. of India on 20/07/2019 to spread awareness amongst students about corruption and related issues.Department of Home Science Extension Education has organized guest lecture on Handling and Operating professional camera on 28th August 2019 for Home Science Cell -1 Mr. KedarPatil a Professional Camera Man and Mrs. PramilaMatil first professional photographer of Nagpur were the resources persons.  Students were shown different techniques and tricks to handle and operate the camera.  Various Vintage and latest camera was also brought by the experts.

One-Day Symposium on Essentials of Nutrition in Sports Performance was organized on       31st August 2019 by LAD College for Women, Nagpur Department of Sports in collaboration with the Nutrition Society of India, Nagpur Chapter. The Keynote Address and Guest Lectures was delivered by top scientists invited from the Headquarters of Nutrition Society of India, Hyderabad. There were threeInvited Guests viz. Dr. Y. VenkataRamana, Scientist –F, Dr. Priti Rishi Lal, Scientist- E, and  Dr. KommiKalpana, Scientist – Dwere from MYAS- National Institute of Nutrition, Dept. of Sports Science and ICMR-NIN, Hyderabad, Telangana State. Participants were Students, Sportspersons, Academicians, Coaches, Trainers, Dieticians& Doctors. Highlight of the event was a Panel Discussion on the topic Nurturing a Child Athlete- The Role of Coach, Trainer, Nutritionist, Sports medicine doctor & Psychologist. The Panelists for the Panel Discussion were  Dr. ShaileshPangaonkar(Sports Psychology),and Dr. Ashish Agarwal, (Sports Physiotherapy) from Nagpur who actively participated along with the Hyderabad Scientist’s team. Sportspersons, Coaches, Psychiatrists, Nutritionist, Academicians, Students, Parents and all those who believe in healthy lifestyle for sports performance had attended the symposium by registering themselves.

On 19th August 2019, seminar on abroad education abroad scholarships was organized by ‘Global Reach- Institute for Abroad Education’. Facilitators were Mr. Rahul Massey and Miss Krati. They gave information about Crandall University, Canada and about courses offered in the University, pathway for admission and also gave valuable guidance on how to apply directly for global migration, including fees structure, obtaining information of different courses, scholarships etc.

21st August 2019, Training and Placement Cell organized a guidance seminar on competitive examinations, in Niyogi Hall at Shankar Nagar campus. The session was conducted by             Mr. Rahul Vaidya, Director – ‘Gadget – The Career Tool’, who focused on awareness about various competitive exams like Banking, Railway Recruitment Board, Staff Selection Commission and conducted an aptitude test for all students to know their capability. He also informed the gathering about vacancies in different organizations, minimum norms required for the same, salary structure, examination structure for different positions in the jobs, etc. He motivated the students to appear for these exams. More than 300 students attended the seminar.

2020

Online Faculty Development Programmeon ‘Flipped Classroom- An Effective Pedagogy’ was held on 13th April, 2020 in collaboration with Vellalar College for Women (Autonomous), Erode, Tamil Nadu wherein the entire teaching staff-senior and junior college had participated. Vice-Principal, KalpanaDhawad worked as the convener and Principal, Dr. DeepaliKotwalorganized, Co-ordinated and chaired the program and had invited Dr. S.K. Kavitha as resource person.

Webinar on Emotional Wellness in Changing Times was planned on 26th April 2020 by the college. Dr. Nanda Rathi, Convener Mindfulness Literacy Year was the convener and Principal Dr. DeepaliKotwal organized Co-ordinated and Chaired the program and invited Mrs. Sagarika Mishra, an e-wellness coach and Counselor from New Delhi as a resource person. 93 participants both from the junior and senior college staff attended.

The College collaborated with Vellalar College for Women (Autonomous), Erode, Tamil Naduand an Interstate Cluster of Colleges to organize a one week Faculty Development Programme titled Inclusive Quality Initiatives for Higher Education w.e.f. 27th April 2020 to 4th May 2020. Other Colleges were DCT’s Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Panaji, Goa, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, Karnataka, Smt. RadhadeviGoenka College for Women, Akola Maharashtra and St. Joseph’s College for Women, Alappuzha, Kerala. Total 14 sessions were held where Dr. Archana Masram represented the College and made a presentation on Flipped Classroom as the Best Practice on the last day of the programme. Earlier, Dr. ShreejaKurupas a team member made a presentation on a project assigned to each College by a resource person. Other team members were, Dr. Pooja Pathak, Dr. AlkaDhondgeand Dr. Nanda Rathi. Total 46 faculty members comprising of permanent, ad-hoc and contributory teachers benefited through this venture. Mrs. KalpanaDhawad, Vice Principal Coordinated with the host college for successful completion of this faculty development programme and Principal Dr. DeepaliKotwal was the strength of motivation behind this collaborative initiative and was the organizer and coordinator of this Faculty Development Programme which was organized jointly by an Interstate Cluster of Colleges.In coordination with both the Vice Principals- Mrs. Radhika Yelkawar and Dr. Pooja Pathak College Principal Dr. DeepaliKotwalhad planned, coordinated and organized following workshops exclusively for the College teaching staff taking the active voluntary assistance of the technical knowledge from Dr. ShreejaKurup and Dr. A Masram: (1) Two day Workshop on Training for Teaching on Virtual Platform,[G-suite Training- Google Meet, Google Forms, Classroom and Google Calendar-] was organized for the L.A.D. teaching staff, on 13thand 14thJuly 2020, (2) One day Workshop on Training on Virtual Teaching for Technical Team was organized for selected staff and conducted on 18thJuly 2020 and (3) Workshop on How to Prepare Google Forms organized by L.A.D. College, Nagpur, on August 8th, and (4) Two days’ Workshop on Training for Conducting Online Exam  on 12th and 14th September 2020. On Day-1, a detailed practice session was conducted on Creating online question paper in Google forms, marking scheme, general and quiz settings etc.Day-2 was dedicated for the discussion on setting up various extensions related to paper setting in other languages and practical subjects, handling online answer sheets and its tabulation. Doubts and queries of the teachers were also addressed during the practice session by Dr. MrsShreejaKurup. A PDF file containing detailed steps of the contents of both days of workshop prepared by the resource person was also provided to the participants for further practice. There were total 89 participants on Day-1 and 65 participants on Day-2.Mr. Ajay Deoghare from Office provided all the technical support for G- Suite training. 

An in – house meeting was convened under the guidance of Principal Dr. DeepaliKotwal in the second week of May 2020 to brief the staff members about the various webinars the College would be initiating during the critical times of COVID- 19. Dr. Sangeeta Sahastrabuddhe, Convener, Research and Development Cell informed about the planned webinar on the Dos and Don’ts of Research Paper Writingby Prof. Dr. Sanjay Sharma and its importance in the field of research. NidheeMeshram, Convener, Mathanbriefed about Manthanthat serves as a platform for research oriented interactions and related activities and the forth coming research oriented presentations that would be held online. Similarly, Principal Dr. DeepaliKotwalhad declared the theme of the year 2020-2021as the Mindfulness Literacy Year and correlated its significance in the times of COVID- 19 and Lockdown. She announced the name of Dr. Nanda Rathito take charge as Convener of the Mindfulness literacy year 2020-2021that the College is going to observe and informed about the tentative programes to be organized.  Dr. Archana Masramand Dr. ShreejaKurup successfully handled the technical support for the first ever independent online activity through this brief- up.

The College arranged a Webinar on Dos and Don’ts of Research Paper Writing, Prof. Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Professor, JECRC University, Jaipur, a Fellow, Royal Society of Chemistry, UK and Green Chemistry Series Editor, Springer, UK was the resource person. On 31st May 2020, this webinar was organized by L.A.D. College, Nagpur and being a Lead College for the Indradhanu Cluster of Colleges, Nagpur; the member colleges were also invited. Principal Dr. DeepaliKotwal organized, chaired and coordinated and Dr. SrideviDarisi, Convener of Indradhanu Cluster of Colleges was the Convener of this Webinar. Dr. Pooja Pathak, IQAC Coordinator and Dr. S. Sahasrabudhhe actively participated in organizing the webinar and it was a success.

The College organized a Webinar on Embodying Stillness: Finding Peace amidst Covid -19, on 29th June 2020 under the aegis of Mindfulness Literacy year and invited Dr. MrsRajita Kulkarni, President, Sri Sri University, as a resource person. Vice President Dr. AvinashDeshmukh visited the web-link for some time. Principal Dr. DeepaliKotwal chaired the session and welcomed and addressed the gathering while Dr. N. Rathi was the convener of this Program.

Energy Swaraj Foundation had invited the college as a Partner Organization in the “Learn to Design your Solar System.” This course has given a unique Opportunity to become Energy Literate. One hundred and Sixty nine students from various departments of Shankar Nagar campus and Seminary hills campus registered for the Course which comprised of fifteen YouTube videos. Quiz was mandatory for obtaining the Certificate. The logo of the College has been has been placed on the certificate of the sixty eight college students who have successfully completed the course. Ms. Kanchan Bade was appointed as the convener of this course. The course was held in the first week of September 2020.

2021

Webinar on ‘How to Read Scientific Literature?’

The Faculty of Science and Technology organised a Webinar under the guidance of Principal,Dr.DeepaliKotwal, on ‘How to Read Scientific Literature?’ under the aegis of IQAC in Collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, NCCS, Persistent System, MANAV Project (GOI initiative), IISER Pune, on 28th January 2021 through Google Meet. The target audiences for this webinar were students of B.Sc. and M.Sc.  Final Year of Life Sciences (Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology).Dr.AlkaDhondge, Supervisor, Faculty of Science and Technology introduced the theme and Guest Speaker of the programme followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Mrs. Radhika Yelkawar, Vice Principal. The Resource Person for this webinar was Dr.AnupmaHarshal, Consultant (Science Communication and Public Engagement, IISER, PUNE) who on behalf of the Team at MANAV had put together a “Training and Project Awareness” session( Online mode) that included,

(1) An in-depth presentation on “How to Read scientific literature?”

(2) An introduction to project “MANAV” explaining how students can participate and contribute to this project.

This was followed by following two tests that were administered online to the participating students-An English Proficiency Test

A Test for Reading scientific content.

Those students who attended the sessions and successfully completed the 2 online tests, received certificates from the organisers.Dr. Pooja Pathak, IQAC Coordinator gave her remarks and expressed her satisfaction. Dr. Archana Masram, Convener, of this webinar proposed a formal vote of thanks.

145 students and all the teachers of the Faculty of Science and Technology attended this webinar.
